Privacy

Glitzify is a brand site. You cannot buy anything here, there is no account to create, and there is no checkout. That keeps this short, because we collect very little.

01   Who we are

Wonder Things Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 15197334. Registered office: 142-143 Parrock Street, Gravesend, England, DA12 1EY. We are the data controller for the small amount of personal data described on this page.

02   What this site collects

Nothing you type. There is no form on this site that sends data to us.

• Server logs. Our web server records each request: a shortened IP address (the second half of an IPv4 address, and most of an IPv6 address, is removed before anything is written, so on its own it no longer identifies your connection), the page requested without anything after a "?" in its address, the time, your browser's user-agent string, which site linked you here (the site only, never the full address), whether your browser fetched the page ahead of a click, the request's method and protocol, and technical details of our response such as its status and size. No other part of your browser's request is kept. We use these records to keep the site running, to investigate faults, and to see which pages and buttons people use, which sites and search engines send them, and how many go on to Amazon, so that we can improve the site. Images inside emails we send are never logged.
• Buy-click count. When you click a link to Amazon, the page sends our server a small request saying which link and which country's store, and that request is logged like any other (above). It is not sent if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or if you switch it off here. The switch stores one flag, glitzify_no_count, in this browser's localStorage. It applies to this browser only, so set it in each browser or app you use. Clearing your browser data removes it, and Safari and the browsers inside iPhone apps erase it after about a week without a visit; if that happens, switch it off again. The switch stops our own count only: the link to Amazon itself carries an Amazon Attribution tag (section 05).

  Without JavaScript the count is never sent.

• Aggregated page statistics via Simple Analytics - how many people viewed a page, roughly where in the world they were, and which site sent them. It is cookieless and it does not build a profile of you or follow you to other sites.
• A preference stored in your own browser. When you switch between the UK and US Amazon store we save your choice under glitzify_region in localStorage so the buttons point at the right shop next time. It holds the two letters "UK" or "US", never anything personal, and clearing your browser data removes it. It stays on your device, though the buy-click count records which country's store a click went to.

03   If you email us

The "Email me the drops" button and the contact links open your own email app with a message addressed to us - nothing is submitted through this website. If you do write to us, we hold your email address and what you wrote, so that we can reply and, where you asked to be told about new products, so that we can do that. You can ask us to delete it at any time and we will.

04   Why we are allowed to process it

For server logs, the click count and aggregated statistics, our legitimate interest in a working website and in knowing, in aggregate, how people find it and use it, so that we can improve it. For email, either your consent (you asked to hear about new products) or our legitimate interest in answering a message you sent us.

05   Who else receives data

Loading this page contacts a small number of third parties, each of which necessarily sees your IP address because that is how the web works:

• Simple Analytics - aggregated, cookieless statistics.
• Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) - serves the typefaces this page uses.
• Our hosting provider - runs the server and holds its logs.

We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising or tracking pixels on this site.

06   International transfers

Our own server, which serves these pages and keeps the server logs, is in Germany. Google Fonts is operated by a company based in the United States, so requests for the fonts may be served from outside the UK. Simple Analytics is based in the Netherlands and states that it stores its data in the EU.

07   How long we keep it

Server logs are kept for about a month, then deleted. Simple Analytics holds aggregated statistics, not records about you. Emails we keep until you ask us to delete them, or until they are no longer relevant.

08   Cookies

This site sets no cookies at all. Simple Analytics is cookieless by design, and we run no advertising or tracking cookies, which is why you are not being asked to dismiss a consent banner. At most two things are stored on your device, both in localStorage rather than a cookie and neither personal: the region preference described in section 02 and, only if you switch the buy-click count off, the flag that remembers that choice.

09   Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it. Email hello@theglitzify.com and we will respond within one month. To object to the buy-click count, use the switch in section 02, or turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser. Our logs hold shortened IP addresses, so most records could belong to many people. If you tell us when you visited, which browser or app you used and your IP address, we will look, and send you or delete only records that can be yours alone, never ones that could be someone else's; we will tell you if we cannot single yours out.

10   Complaints

If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
