How to use glitter hair spray, and how to wash it out
Published
Glitter spray is the quickest way to put silver in your hair. Here is how to spray it evenly, where it looks best, and how to wash it out afterwards.
How to use glitter spray in your hair
- Style your hair first: curls, braids, a ponytail or an up-do. The glitter goes on last.
- Give the can a good shake. The rattle is the mixing bead, keeping the glitter evenly spread.
- Hold it 20-30 cm (8-12 in) from your hair. Closer than that, and the first burst can land in one spot.
- Spray lightly for a subtle shine, then layer it for more intense sparkle where you want it most: the part in your hair, your hairline or the ends.
- Allow about a minute to dry, and you're ready to go.
Where to put it
- The part in your hair: a line of silver that shows from the front.
- The ends: the shine catches the light as you move.
- Braids and bunches: mist after plaiting, so the silver sits on every twist.
- All over: layer the whole length for a full silver look.
Spraying outdoors or over a towel keeps the glitter that misses your hair off the floor.
How to get glitter spray out of your hair
Rinse it out with shampoo. Wash your hair as you normally would; if you layered a lot of spray, a second shampoo helps. The same goes for skin: rinse it off with shampoo or hand wash.
Safety
- The spray is flammable: use it away from candles, sparklers and open flames.
- Keep it away from your eyes, and do not use it on broken skin.
- For ages 16 and over.
