Glitter spray for clothes and fabric
Published
A glitter spray turns an outfit you already own into a silver one. Here is how to spray clothes evenly, and what to try it on.
Glitzify is made for hair, body and clothes, and the listings call it suitable for all types of fabrics. That means you can add silver to an outfit you already own: a dress, a jacket, a costume, a hat or a pair of canvas shoes.
How to spray clothes and fabric
- Lay the item flat, outdoors or on an old sheet, so the glitter that misses lands somewhere easy to clear.
- Give the can a good shake. The rattle is the mixing bead, keeping the glitter evenly spread.
- Hold it 20-30 cm (8-12 in) away, and start spraying before you pass over the fabric so the first burst does not land in one spot.
- A light mist gives a subtle shine; layer it for more intense sparkle.
- Allow about a minute to dry before you pick it up or put it on.
Trying it on a hidden spot first, such as the inside of a hem, shows you how it looks on that fabric before you do the whole piece.
Ideas
- A plain black dress: mist the shoulders or the hem.
- A denim jacket: the shoulders and the back, for a festival.
- Canvas shoes: a light, even layer all over.
- A costume: capes, hats, wings and sashes, laid flat and dried before you wear them.
- A dance outfit: mist the whole outfit so it sparkles under the lights.
Washing it afterwards
Follow the care label of the garment. Glitzify is a temporary shimmer, made to wash away when you are done.
Safety
- The spray is flammable: use it away from candles, sparklers and open flames.
- Keep it away from your eyes, and do not use it on broken skin.
- For ages 16 and over.
